Sikagard 552W Aqua Primer - 15L

Sikagard-552 W Aquaprimer is a one-component, water-dispersed adhesion promoting primer designed for water-dispersed polymer paint coatings. It's an environmentally friendly and water vapour permeable primer that's part of a system complying with EN 1504-2 as a protective coating.

Uses:

• Priming coat for concrete and dense mineral substrates like fibre cement, aerated concrete, gypsum, and thin renderings (e.g., Sika MonoTop-723 N, Monotop FC).
• Can also be used as a primer on firmly adhering existing water-based coatings.
• Improves adhesion of cement resurfacing mortars on concrete surfaces treated with hydrophobic impregnation.
• Suitable for protection against ingress, moisture control, and increasing resistivity (EN 1504-9 principles).

Application Information:

• Consumption: ~0.10–0.12 kg/m² (8–10 m² per litre) depending on substrate absorbency.
• Ambient air temperature: +8 °C min. / +35 °C max.
• Relative air humidity: < 80 %
• Substrate temperature: +8 °C min. / +35 °C max.
• Waiting time to overcoating: Refer to the datasheet for specific waiting times based on substrate temperature (2.5 hours to 12 hours). Allow 100% longer when applying on existing coatings. Apply cement-based mortars when primer is still tacky.

Important Considerations:

• Do not apply when there is expected rain.
• Do not apply on concrete younger than 28 days.
• Do not apply a resurfacing mortar onto Sikagard-552 W Aquaprimer that has dried out - the bonding of the mortar might be impaired coating respectively. 

Application Instructions:

Substrate Quality / Pre-treatment: Substrate must be dense and free from loose particles. Tensile strength > 1 N/mm². Prepare concrete (steam cleaning, water jetting, or blastcleaning; new concrete > 28 days). For thin renderings, allow 4 days curing before priming. Test adhesion of existing coatings.

Application: Sikagard-552 W Aquaprimer is ready to use; do not dilute. Shake thoroughly. Apply by brush, roller, or airless spray.

Cleaning of Equipment: Clean tools with water immediately after use. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.
