Nutech GP Primer: The Dual-Action Adhesion Booster for Cement Roof Tiles

Ensure a durable, professional roof coating finish with Nutech GP Primer, a high-performance, water-based acrylic primer. Specifically formulated to dramatically improve the intercoat adhesion of NuTech topcoat systems, this primer is the essential first step for recoating cement roof tiles across Australia.

Key Features & Dual-Action Benefits

What makes the GP Primer stand out in the roofing market is its powerful dual-action capability as both an adhesion promoter and a surface filler.

- Superior Adhesion: Creates a strong bondbetween the roof surface and the final coating, providing a consistent, long-lasting foundation on both smooth and rough cement roof tiles.

- High-Solids Filler: Thanks to its high solids formula, GP Primer effectively fills minor surface imperfections and texture variations, particularly on rough cement tiles. This creates a smoother substrate, leading to a more uniform and higher-quality aesthetic finish.

- Optimised for Durability: When paired with NuTech’s roof coating systems, the primer contributes to a uniform, professional result engineered to withstand Australia’s exceptionally harsh environmental conditions.

Application Advantages & Suitability

- Versatile Use: Ideal for use on both rough and smooth cement tiles.

- User-Friendly:This primer is easy to apply and boasts fast-drying properties to speed up your project.

- Safety Conscious: The water-based formulation ensures a low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content for a safer application environment.

Important Note on Surface Preparation:

GP Primer is specifically designed for sound cement surfaces and is not suitable for use on oxidised or powdery roof tiles. For these challenging surfaces, NuTech strongly recommends using the specialised NuPrime formula for optimal surface preparation and bond.

Q1: What surfaces can NuTech GP Primer be applied to?

NuTech GP Primer is ideal for smooth and rough cement roof tiles, porous concrete, cinder block walls, lightweight concrete panels, and stucco or rendered surfaces.

Q2: Why should I use NuTech GP Primer before roof coatings?

GP Primer acts as a dual-action adhesion booster and surface filler, creating a strong bond between the substrate and your topcoat while smoothing minor imperfections for a professional finish.

Q3: Can NuTech GP Primer be used on oxidised or powdery tiles?

No. For oxidised or powdery roof tiles, use NuTech’s specialized NuPrime formula to ensure proper surface preparation and optimal adhesion.

Q4: How much coverage can I expect from NuTech GP Primer?

Coverage varies by surface type: approximately 6 m²/L per coat on smooth surfaces and 4 m²/L per coat on rough cement tiles. Porosity and texture may affect coverage.

Q5: What are the recommended application conditions for GP Primer?

Apply between 10°C and 30°C with no surface moisture. Avoid application in very cold or extremely hot conditions, and ensure the primer is fully dry before applying the topcoat for best adhesion.

Colour Accuracy Disclaimer: We have taken care to display the most accurate visuals of our products. However, we are not responsible for the colour accuracy of the device you are viewing our swatches on. These variations arise due to different computer monitors and devices (make, model and technology, as well as resolution, contrast and brightness control settings) in much the same way a scan will differ from an original image and a colour photocopy. Furthermore, coatings can exhibit variation in perceived colour depending on gloss level and application method. If you require a very specific colour match, please make your selection via actual swatches and colour boards available at our showroom.
