Sika Epoxy Flooring System
At Protrade Warehouse, we know that a professional epoxy floor isn't just a single coat of paint—it’s a system. To get a finish that doesn't peel, crack, or fade, you need to layer the right products in the right order. Whether you are coating a residential garage or a heavy-duty industrial warehouse, follow our guide below to ensure you have everything you need in your cart.
Step 1: The Foundation (Primers & Moisture Barriers)
The secret to a lifelong floor is the bond between the resin and the concrete. Never skip the primer.
- Sikafloor 158W Fast Barrier: If your concrete is "green" (less than 28 days old) or shows signs of rising damp. This creates a waterproof seal so your epoxy doesn't "bubble" from ground moisture.
- Sikafloor 161: The industry standard for almost every project. It is a high-strength primer that "bites" into the concrete, ensuring your colored coats stay stuck forever.
- Sikafloor 94: A low-viscosity, multi-purpose epoxy. Use this as a fast-curing primer or mix it with sand to create a "patching mortar" to fix cracks in your floor before coating.
Step 2: The Body (Base & Intermediate Coats)
This is where your floor gets its thickness, durability, and primary color.
- Sikafloor 264: This is a high-build, colored epoxy resin. It is incredibly tough, chemical resistant, and easy to roll. If you want a solid-colored floor (Grey, White, etc.), this is your main coat.
- Sikafloor 169: This is a transparent resin. It is specifically designed to be UV-stable and is used as a binder for "Flake" or "Quartz" flooring systems where you want a clear, decorative finish.
Step 3: The Shield (UV Protection & Top Coats)
Standard epoxy can "yellow" or "chalk" if it sits in the sun. A top coat protects your investment and adds extra scratch resistance.
- Sikafloor 359 Clear: A tough-elastic, clear and colored polyurethane sealer. If your floor is near a roller door or large windows, add 359 over your 264 to prevent UV damage and provide a beautiful satin finish.
- Sikafloor 550 PA Clear: This is a "Polyaspartic" coating. It is ultra-UV stable, extremely scratch-resistant, and cures very fast. Perfect for professional workshops that need to be back in service the next day.

Protrade Warehouse Tip: Preparation is everything! Always grind your concrete surface to a "sandpaper-like" texture before applying your first coat. An epoxy system is only as strong as the surface it bonds to.
