Recommended Systems

Two-Coat Epoxy System (Good Slabs – No Moisture)

  1. Repair cracks, spalling, and surface defects.
  2. Diamond grind the slab.
  3. Apply first coat of Ultrashield thinned 10% with Xylene or GP Thinners.
  4. Once cured to walk-on stage, lightly sand/scrape debris, then vacuum.
  5. Apply second coat of Ultrashield thinned 5%, adding floating anti-slip media (recommended: Ultrakote Floating Media).
  • Foot Traffic: 24 hrs
  • Heavy Traffic: 7 days

Three-Coat System with Moisture Barrier (Damp Slabs)

Moisture Testing:

  • If >5% → Apply one or two coats of Ultrabarrier Moisture Barrier Epoxy.
  • If >12% → Do not coat floor until moisture is reduced.

Steps:

  1. Repair cracks and defects.
  2. Diamond grind the slab.
  3. Apply 2 coats of Ultrabarrier.
  4. Apply first coat of Ultrashield thinned 10%.
  5. Light sand/scrape, vacuum.
  6. Apply second coat of Ultrashield thinned 5%, adding floating anti-slip media.

For heavy-duty slip resistance: broadcast aluminium oxide over the 2nd coat while wet, then seal with final coat.

  • Foot Traffic: 24 hrs
  • Heavy Traffic: 7 days

Three-Coat System for Porous Slabs (Pinholes & High Absorption)

  1. Repair cracks and defects.
  2. Diamond grind the slab.
  3. Apply 1–2 coats of Ultra Primer (low-viscosity epoxy primer to seal pores and pinholes).
    • Double priming recommended for highly porous concrete.
  4. Apply first coat of Ultrashield thinned 10%.
  5. Light sand/scrape, vacuum.
  6. Apply second coat of Ultrashield thinned 5%, adding floating anti-slip media.

For heavy-duty slip resistance: broadcast aluminium oxide over the 2nd coat while wet, then seal with final coat.

  • Foot Traffic: 24 hrs

What is Ultrashield 100% Solids Epoxy Flooring Resin used for?

Ultrashield 100% Solids Self-Levelling Epoxy Flooring Resin is designed for protecting and resurfacing concrete floors in garages, warehouses, workshops, commercial kitchens, retail stores, aircraft hangars, schools, and industrial facilities. It delivers a seamless, high-gloss, chemical-resistant finish suitable for both residential and commercial epoxy flooring projects across Australia.

Is Ultrashield epoxy suitable for garage floors and flake flooring systems?

Yes, Ultrashield epoxy is ideal for garage floor coatings and decorative flake flooring systems. Its self-levelling formulation creates a smooth, durable base coat with excellent resistance to hot tyre pickup, fuel spills, abrasion, and chemicals. Anti-slip media and decorative flakes can also be added for enhanced safety and appearance.

How much coverage does Ultrashield epoxy flooring resin provide?

An 8L Ultrashield epoxy kit covers up to 40m² per coat, while a 16L kit covers up to 80m² per coat, depending on the condition and porosity of the concrete surface. Two coats are recommended for best performance and long-term durability.

Can Ultrashield epoxy be applied over damp or porous concrete slabs?

Yes, Ultrashield epoxy can be applied over damp or porous concrete when the correct preparation system is used. For damp slabs, Ultrabarrier Moisture Barrier Epoxy is recommended before applying Ultrashield. For porous concrete with pinholes or high absorption, Ultra Primer should be used to properly seal the surface before coating.

Is Ultrashield epoxy resistant to chemicals, tyre marks, and heavy traffic?

Ultrashield epoxy flooring resin offers excellent resistance to chemicals, fuels, abrasion, hot tyre pickup, and heavy foot or vehicle traffic. This makes it a popular choice for garages, warehouses, workshops, commercial facilities, and industrial flooring applications requiring long-lasting performance.

How long does Ultrashield epoxy flooring take to cure?

Ultrashield epoxy flooring is typically ready for foot traffic within 24 hours under normal conditions. Heavy traffic and vehicle use are recommended only after a full 7-day cure to achieve maximum hardness, durability, and chemical resistance.

Q: Can Ultrashield be used outdoors?
A: No. Use Ultrakote UVSeal polyurethane or UltraGuard 95 Polyaspartic for external areas.

Q: How many coats do I need?
A: Minimum 2 coats. Moist or porous slabs require 3 (Ultrabarrier for moisture / Ultra Primer for porosity).

Q: Can I make the floor slip resistant?
A: Yes – add floating media or broadcast aluminium oxide for a heavy-duty slip-resistant finish.

Q: What makes Ultrashield different?
A: Longer pot life, stress-free application, superior UV resistance.

Colour Accuracy Disclaimer: We have taken care to display the most accurate visuals of our products. However, we are not responsible for the colour accuracy of the device you are viewing our swatches on. These variations arise due to different computer monitors and devices (make, model and technology, as well as resolution, contrast and brightness control settings) in much the same way a scan will differ from an original image and a colour photocopy. Furthermore, coatings can exhibit variation in perceived colour depending on gloss level and application method. If you require a very specific colour match, please make your selection via actual swatches and colour boards available at our showroom.

Product Disclaimer: Ensure you read all product, technical and safety data sheets prior to application as liability falls on the applicator. All products must be applied in accordance with manufacturer’s recommended method.
