Package Only Includes
- Two 20kg Sikafloor 264 Kits
Each 20kg kit of Sikafloor 264 will cover up to 70m² of floor area when applied using a roller. Please note that coverage may vary depending on the condition and porosity of the concrete surface.
Package With Accessories Includes
- Two 20kg Sikafloor 264 Kits – each kit covers up to 70m² depending on the surface condition. ( View Product)
- One container of PT50 anti-slip media – epoxy flooring can become slippery when wet. This fine anti-slip media is mixed into the final coat to create a safer walking surface while still allowing easy cleaning. ( View product )
Note: If greater slip resistance is required the fine anti-slip media can be replaced with medium anti-slip media at no additional cost.
- Two 1L General Purpose Thinners – adding GP thinner reduces the viscosity of the epoxy making it easier to roll onto the floor. Our recommendation is to add 1 litre of supplied GP thinner into a 20kg kit of epoxy and mix thoroughly for one minute using the supplied mixing paddle attached to a drill. ( View product )
- One Epoxy Application Twin Roller / Brush Kit – developed in partnership with Unipro. Includes two rollers, two brushes, one tray, one heavy duty frame and two roller liners allowing you to apply two coats of epoxy. Painting extension pole is not included and can be purchased separately. ( View product )
- One pair of spike shoes – spike shoes allow you to walk on wet epoxy to fix missed spots, remove debris or back-roll the coating to achieve a better finish. ( View product )
- One roll of Tesa 48mm cloth masking tape – used to mask off areas you do not want epoxy to cover and helps achieve straight edges. ( View product )
- One pair of protective work gloves
- Unipro Drill Mixer ( View product )
Important: Do not use masking tape on skirting boards because epoxy may bleed through and create uneven finishes.
Package With Accessories and Primer Includes
- One Sikafloor 161 17kg kit – used as an epoxy primer. When applied using a roller this kit will cover up to 70m² depending on surface porosity. ( View Product )
- Two 20kg Sikafloor 264 Kits – each kit covers up to 70m² depending on the surface condition.
- One container PT50 anti-slip media.
- Three 1L General Purpose Thinners.
- Two epoxy application roller / brush kits.
- One pair of spike shoes.
- One roll Tesa 48mm masking tape.
- One pair of work gloves.
- Unipro Drill Mixer
Items Not Included in the Pack
- Extension pole – available from paint shops or hardware stores
- Patching material for cracks and spalls. If the floor has cracks consider including a Sikadur 33 kit or sikadur 31CFN. For larger voids or damaged areas, Ultra mortar kit is ideal.
- Drill – the supplied mixing paddle connects to standard drills.
- Moisture barrier – if your floor has rising dampness issues consider using Sikafloor 158W.
Recommended Preparation Method
Preparation is the key to achieving a long-lasting epoxy flooring system. We also offer concrete floor grinder and dust extractor hire for customers in Sydney and nearby areas. This allows you to access the professional surface preparation equipment needed to complete the entire epoxy flooring project with the right tools from start to finish.
Diamond grinding is the recommended method for preparing both new and existing concrete substrates prior to applying Sikafloor 264.
The purpose of concrete grinding is to remove flaking paint, sealers and contaminants while opening the pores of the concrete. This allows the first coat of epoxy to penetrate deeply into the substrate and seal the floor.
Recommended Diamond Tooling Grits
- 30 / 40 grit – hard concrete
- 80 grit – soft concrete
-
PCD plugs – used to remove flaking paint
After removing old coatings with PCD plugs the surface should be ground with standard grinding shoes to smooth the concrete prior to applying epoxy.
Alternative Preparation Method – Acid Etching
Acid etching can be used as an alternative preparation method. Hydrochloric acid is commonly available from Bunnings, pool supply stores and local hardware stores.
Consumption Coverage Guide
20kg pigmented kit applied using an 11 – 12mm nap roller.
- Area Size – up to 70m²
- First Coat – 20kg
- Second Coat – 20kg
- Recommended Minimum Number of Coats – two coats
- Required Number of Kits – two kits
Application Notes
- Coverage values are provided as a guide only and may vary depending on surface porosity and application technique.
- Additional coats are recommended for floors exposed to heavy traffic.
- The first coat should be thinned by adding 5% – 7% general purpose thinners.
- Slip resistance can be achieved by adding anti-slip media.
Slip Resistance Guide
The anti-slip media supplied with this pack will not pass slip rating testing, if your project requires a specific slip rating, use the chart below as a guide to achieve R or P rated slide resistance floor covering using alternative grit anti-slip media.
Steps to Achieve a Successful Solid Colour Epoxy Flooring System
Prepare the substrate thoroughly by diamond grinding or acid etching. Ensure the surface is free from dust, grease, loose particles, paint and moisture. If the floor is subject to rising dampness a moisture barrier primer should be applied before the base coat.
- Repair Cracks and Imperfections
Fill cracks using a two-pack epoxy filler such as Sikadur 31 CFN. For larger cracks or spalls use an epoxy repair mortar. The repair mortar must cure fully before grinding or coating and this typically takes 6 – 8 hours.
Apply the primer evenly across the floor. General curing time at 20°C is approximately 8 hours, although this may vary depending on temperature and solvent additions.
Return within 24 hours to remove debris and imperfections. Grind down high sections and patch any low areas. If recoating does not occur within 30 – 36 hours the floor must be lightly sanded using 80 grit sandpaper.
Roll the coloured epoxy evenly across the floor from wall to wall. Back rolling towards natural light can help achieve a more uniform finish. Spike shoes can be worn to allow movement across the wet coating. Typical curing time is approximately 8 hours.
Apply the second coat in the same manner. Do not add thinners to the final coat. Anti-slip media may be added to achieve higher slip resistance.
- Light foot traffic – after 24 hours
- Vehicle traffic – after 7 days
This curing period allows the epoxy flooring system to reach full strength and durability.
