Moisture-Curing, Elastomeric PU Membrane for Under-Screed Applications

Sikalastic-487 is a high-performance, hand-applied, low VOC, moisture-curing single component elastomeric polyurethane membrane designed for various waterproofing applications.

Uses:

Sikalastic-487 is ideal for under-screed waterproofing in:

• Wet areas (e.g., bathrooms, kitchens)
• Balconies
• Non-UV exposed applications
• Podiums and decks

Application Information:

• Relative air humidity: Between 20 and 90%
• Substrate temperature: +5 to +35°C
• Substrate moisture content: Up to 5%
• Waiting time to overcoating: Typically overnight to within 2 days. If exceeded, light abrasion and reactivation with Sika Thinner C or removal and re-application is needed.
• Drying time: 24 hours for full cure
• Consumption Rate (indicative):
  • Sikalastic PU Primer: 4m² per Litre
  • Sikalastic Moisture Seal: Up to 10m² per Litre (refer to PDS)
  • Sikalastic-487 (10% diluted Thinner C - as primer): 4m² per Litre
    

Important Considerations:

• Do not install Sikalastic-487 without the use of a primer.
• Do not under apply Sikalastic-487.

Application Instructions:

Substrate Preparation: Surface must be clean, sound, smooth, dust-free, and oil-free. A diluted layer of Sikalastic-487 (10% Thinner C) can prime dry, contaminant-free concrete. For high porosity, an epoxy primer is recommended (see 'Priming' section in full PDS).

Priming: Use Sikalastic PU Primer, Sikalastic Moisture Seal, or diluted Sikalastic-487 as per substrate requirements and PDS instructions.

Membrane Application: Apply Sikalastic-487 with a brush or roller to achieve a minimum of 1.2mm dry film thickness (2 coats of 680 microns WFT). Light foot traffic and screed application are possible after 24 hours.

Cleaning of Equipment: Clean reusable tools with Sika Thinner C before curing.
