Sikafloor 158 W Fast Barrier - Rapid Drying Hydrostatic Moisture & Incontinence Barrier
Sikafloor-158 W Fast Barrier is a fast-drying, 2-component, water-based epoxy resin forming a permanent barrier against hydrostatic pressure and incontinence. Suitable for concrete on grade, green concrete, and consolidating weak surfaces. This very low VOC, Green Star certified product is available from ProTrade Warehouse for experienced professionals across Australia.
Uses
Effectively stops rising moisture in concrete (even green concrete), provides an incontinence barrier for aged and healthcare facilities, consolidates weakened or damaged concrete surfaces, and is compatible with Sikafloor epoxy flooring systems and SikaBond wood flooring adhesives.

Application Information
Mixing ratio (Component A : Component B by weight): 2:1
Consumption: 4-6 m²/L on smooth concrete or cement-based compounds. Mechanically profiled or very porous surfaces may require a second coat at 6-8 m²/L. Average consumption depends on substrate absorbency.
Substrate temperature: +10°C min. / +30°C max.
Pot Life: +15°C: 40 min, +23°C: 30 min, +30°C: 15 min. Mix only what can be used within the pot life.
Waiting time to overcoating: Minimum 2 hours at +23 °C with suitable Sika primers, adhesives, or a second coat of Sikafloor-158 W Fast Barrier.
Applied product ready for use: 2 hours+
Important Considerations
- Overcoating should ideally occur as soon as the primer is dry, but within 24 hours. Abrade, vacuum, and wipe with clean water if this is exceeded.
- Prevent dust contamination before subsequent applications. Sand and re-apply if contamination occurs or if the initial coat exceeds 24 hours.
- Protect from freezing at all times.
- Construction joints require pre-treatment with Sikadur or Sikafloor epoxy resins (static cracks) or elastomeric materials/movement joints (dynamic cracks).
- Protect freshly applied material from damp, condensation, and water for at least 24 hours.
- Do not dilute under any circumstances.
- When used with SikaBond wood floor adhesives, do not broadcast with sand.
Application Instructions
Equipment
A low-speed electric drill with a mixing paddle is required for the 18kg kit. Use a ~10mm nap roller for application.
Substrate Quality / Pre-treatment
The substrate must be fully cured, structurally sound, clean, dry, and free of surface contaminants like curing compounds, efflorescence, and dust. It needs to be porous, allowing water penetration (test by sprinkling water). If water beads, contaminants are present and must be mechanically removed before application.
Mixing
4.2kg kit: Plug Component B upright into Component A until empty, then close the cap and shake thoroughly for at least 1 minute, re-shaking if the mixture is not homogeneous.
18kg kit: Pour Part A into Part B (2:1 ratio) and mix with a low-speed electric drill and paint mixer type paddle for 2-3 minutes until a homogeneous mix is achieved. Scrape the sides and bottom of the pails to ensure thorough mixing. Insufficiently mixed material will not cure properly.
Application
Apply one generous coat of Sikafloor-158 Fast Barrier to the porous substrate using a ~10mm nap roller, ensuring a continuous, wet reflective (CLEAR) appearance over the entire surface. On very porous or mechanically prepared surfaces, a second coat is recommended after a minimum of 2 hours. Ensure the first coat has a wet reflective appearance; if it absorbs immediately, re-apply directly.
Cleaning of Equipment
Clean all tools and application equipment with water immediately after use.
