1. What is ULTRA Mortar?
ULTRA Mortar is a high-build epoxy mortar designed for tough industrial and commercial flooring applications. It is ideal for patching damaged concrete, ramping uneven levels, forming durable epoxy coving, and repairing broken expansion joints. Once cured, it withstands heavy traffic from forklifts, trucks, and industrial machinery.
2. What are the main uses of ULTRA Mortar?
ULTRA Mortar is versatile and can be used for:
- Patching holes, cracks, and spalled concrete.
- Ramping uneven floors, doorways, or around drains.
- Coving to create seamless, hygienic wall-to-floor junctions.
- Expansion joint repairs to strengthen broken or damaged joints.
- Heavy-duty floor repairs in warehouses, garages, factories, and workshops.
3. How is ULTRA Mortar applied?
- Pour Part A (resin) and Part B (hardener) into a clean bucket and mix with a drill for 2 minutes.
- Brush a thin coat of this blend onto the prepared area to act as a primer.
- Pour the remaining mix into a bucket with sand/filler and power mix for another 2 minutes, until the colour and texture are uniform.
- The mortar is now ready to be trowelled into repairs, ramps, joints, or used as a coving mix.
- For coving application, please refer to our instructional video.
4. What are the work and curing times?
- Work time: approx. 25 minutes at 25 °C (less in warmer conditions).
- Initial cure: ~10 hours at 25 °C.
- After curing, the surface must be sealed with two coats of 100% solids, high-viscosity epoxy resin to achieve maximum durability.
5. How thick can ULTRA Mortar be applied?
ULTRA Mortar can be applied from 5 mm up to 50 mm in a single application. For deeper repairs, multiple layers may be applied.
6. How long does ULTRA Mortar last?
When correctly applied and sealed, ULTRA Mortar has a service life of 10+ years under normal industrial and commercial conditions.
7. Is ULTRA Mortar UV stable?
No. Like most epoxy mortars, ULTRA Mortar itself is not UV stable. For areas exposed to sunlight, it should be sealed with a UV-stable topcoat such as Ultrakote Pure Guard or UV Seal.
8. What tools are needed?
- Slow-speed drill with paddle mixer
- Clean mixing buckets
- Steel trowel / coving trowel
- Diamond grinder or shot blaster for preparation
- Industrial vacuum
9. What safety precautions are required?
- Wear gloves, eye protection, and respirator when mixing and applying.
- Ensure the work area is well-ventilated.
- Avoid skin contact with uncured material.
- Always follow the product’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
10. What is the shelf life?
When stored in original, unopened containers in a cool, dry environment, ULTRA Mortar has a shelf life of 12 months.
