1. What is Chemforce Fortifier Plus used for?
Chemforce Fortifier Plus is a premium penetrating sealer designed to protect porous natural stone, brick and concrete from water ingress, salt spalling and freeze-thaw damage. It also strengthens very porous materials while maintaining their natural appearance.
2. What surfaces can Chemforce Fortifier Plus be applied to?
Fortifier Plus is suitable for a wide range of porous surfaces including sandstone, travertine, limestone, marble, terracotta, Saltillo tiles, concrete, concrete pavers, precast concrete, cast stone, grout, brick and concrete blockwork. It can be used on both indoor and outdoor surfaces.
3. Can Chemforce Fortifier Plus be used around saltwater swimming pools?
Yes. Fortifier Plus is specifically designed for saltwater and mineral pool surrounds. It helps protect porous stone and concrete from salt damage and is ideal for pool coping, pavers and splash zones. For the best long-term performance, materials exposed to regular saltwater contact should be dip sealed before installation.
4. Does Fortifier Plus change the appearance of the surface?
No. Fortifier Plus is a non-film-forming penetrating sealer that is designed to retain the natural colour and finish of the surface. It penetrates deep into the material without leaving a glossy coating or altering the texture.
5. How long does Chemforce Fortifier Plus take to cure?
The treated surface should remain dry during application, and the product reaches its maximum strength after approximately 2 to 4 weeks as it cures within the pores of the material. Surfaces exposed to saltwater should be allowed to cure for at least 2 weeks before contact.
6. Is Chemforce Fortifier Plus a waterproof membrane?
No. Fortifier Plus is a breathable water repellent, not a waterproof membrane. It significantly reduces water absorption while allowing water vapour to escape, helping minimise moisture build-up, efflorescence and mould growth. It is not designed to resist static water pressure.
7. How much area does Chemforce Fortifier Plus cover?
Coverage depends on the porosity and texture of the surface being treated. As a guide, Fortifier Plus typically covers approximately 4 to 12m² per litre across all coats, although highly porous materials may require more product. Always test on a small area first to determine the actual coverage rate.
